About My Childhood 🧸

I was born in the late 90s, so I grew up during a time when everything still felt a little bit simpler. I was an active and curious kid who loved finding out about everything around me. My parents introduced me to picture books and children's magazines, while I spent my days playing with all kinds of toys, watching TV, playing games, and eventually discovering the internet.

Looking back, the late 90s and early 2000s were such a fun time to grow up. These are some of the things that made my childhood special. ♡

📺 TV Shows

📺 My Beloved Shows

TV was basically my best friend growing up. Before I knew much about the internet, it was my main source of entertainment.

I watched all kinds of cartoons and anime, from Ojamajo Doremi, Di Gi Charat, Minky Momo, The Adventure of Hutch the Honeybee, Ultra Maniac, Doraemon, P-Man, Princess Comet, and many more. I also loved shows like The Fairly OddParents, Ellen's Acres, Wonder Pets, and Avatar: The Last Airbender.

There were honestly so many shows I loved that I can't list them all here. Looking back, the TV shows from that era were PEAK. LOL.

I think this was also the beginning of my love for animation. I didn't know it at the time, but all those shows would eventually become a big part of the things I enjoy today.

🎮 Games

My Childhood Games 🎮

I was a huge fan of Barbie games when I was a kid. Barbie as Rapunzel , Barbie as the Princess and the Pauper, and Barbie in the 12 Dancing Princesses were basically MY LITERAL CHILDHOOD. I spent hours playing them on my dad's old PC.

I also enjoyed GameHouse and old Flash games. Some of my favorites were Varmintz , Cat Dog Fight , and Jojo's Fashion Show.

Outside of computer games, I also loved playing traditional games with my friends. We played pretend, hide-and-seek, cards, hopscotch, paper dolls, and dolls. Sometimes we even exchanged binder papers and wrote our little bios on each other's pages. LOL.

I also loved collecting toys. I was a McDonald's Kids member and got quite a few Happy Meal toys back then. Hello Kitty was my favorite series, and I'm really happy that I still have some of them today. ♡

🎵 Music

About My Childhood Music 🎵

I didn't really know much about music when I was little, but I often listened to music on my dad's old PC using Winamp.

When I entered my teenage years, my music taste started changing. I discovered K-Pop and K-Dramas around the early 2010s.

My first K-Drama was Boys Over Flowers, while my first K-Pop song was LOVE by CN BLUE. Raise your hand if you were the same! 🙋‍♀️

I later got into FT Island and Super Junior, and eventually became a huge fan of K-Pop and K-Rock.

Around 2012, I discovered more anime, and my music taste expanded to J-Pop and J-Rock. I listened to artists like AKB48, ONE OK ROCK, and L'Arc-en-Ciel. Basically, my teenage years were full of K-Pop, K-Rock, J-Pop, and J-Rock. LOL.

📱 Phones

My Childhood Phones 📱

My first phone was a Sony Ericsson Walkman W200i, but my mom didn't let me fully use it because I was still in elementary school.

In 2009, when I entered junior high school, my parents gave me a Nokia 1200 as my first "official" phone. I was kind of disappointed at first because it didn't have a color screen, but at least I had Snake. LOL.

Later, I got a Nokia 2330 Classic.

Not long after that, QWERTY phones became super popular, so I joined the trend with a CSL Blueberry 8250.

Then the trend changed again, and my dad gave me a ZTE Racer. About several months later, I got my Samsung Galaxy Ch@t.

Looking back, it's kind of funny how quickly phones changed during those years.

🌐 Internet

🌐 My Internet Childhood

I was introduced to the internet by my dad in late 2009. Facebook was my first social media platform, and I spent SO MUCH TIME playing Facebook games.

Some of my favorites were Ameba Pico, The Sims Social, Mall World, and Pet Society. I also played avatar games like TinierMe, while GirlsGoGames.com was one of my favorite websites to visit.

As I grew older, I became more familiar with the internet. YouTube was my favorite place to watch music videos, and I also spent time reading manga online.

I was also a member of some official K-Pop websites, including the B2ST official website. Yes, I was a huge fan. LOL.

The internet slowly became a bigger part of my teenage years, and eventually, it became a place where I could share my own interests and creations.

📖 Diary

Another Diary 📖

My internet diary era started in 2011, when I created a small K-Pop fan blog on Blogger.

In 2012, I made my very first personal blog, which was basically my own online diary.

I wrote about the things I liked, my interests, and whatever I was obsessed with at the time. It was a very simple blog, but looking back, it was probably the beginning of my love for writing online.

I also loved reading manga online during this era. One of the manga I remember reading was Sankarea. I still don't know why I read it when I absolutely hate horror stories. LOL.

I guess my old Blogger was one of the first places where I started leaving little pieces of myself on the internet. ♡
